The first time you sign in, RaceLyx walks you through three quick questions so it can label your results and show the right screens. Nothing here is permanent: every answer can be changed later in Settings.
Before you start
- RaceLyx installed and signed in.
- Know the name your club races under.
Step by step
- 1
Step 1: how you race
There are three choices. Racing Club is for organized events with entries, qualifying, mains and published results. Home Track is for practice and casual races with a small group. Stage Rally is for point-to-point timed stages and hillclimbs.
- 2
Choose Racing Club
Your choice decides which screens Home puts first and which setup checklist you get. Everything stays available either way.
- 3
Step 2: name your track
The field is "Club or organization". If the track has the same name, leave "The track has the same name" ticked. Untick it to give the track its own name, like Main Oval.
- 4
Continue
RaceLyx shows how it will save the names, for example "Saved as Riverside RC Raceway". Publishing to the web is set up later.
- 5
Step 3: timing hardware
The choices are LyxBridge, I-Lap, EasyLAP, LapMonitor, LapWiz and OpenStint SDR, plus "I'll connect a decoder later" and "Try the simulator first". You connect and test the real decoder after setup.
- 6
Finish setup
The "Finish setting up" card on Home lists the next jobs for a club: create your first event, set up classes, add or import drivers, connect and test a decoder, and publish results. Tick them off in any order, or press Not now on any you want to skip.
Tips
- Pick "I'll connect a decoder later" if your timing gear is not plugged in yet. Home keeps a reminder.
- If your track is already in RaceLyx Cloud from another computer, use "Use This Track" on step 1 to bring everything down instead of starting over.
- Skip setup appears once a track exists, if you need to get out quickly.
Troubleshooting
- I picked the wrong kind of racing.
- No harm done. Change it later under Settings, Features, Quick Setup, or just use the screens you need.
- My track name came out wrong.
- Rename it in Settings, Tracks & Profiles, on the track card.
