Set a driver's Said as so the announcer says their name right, and preview it as written, as said, and in a race call.

We are recording this one now. It will play right here when it is ready.

The announcer reads names as they are spelled. For a name it gets wrong, type how it sounds in Said as. Drivers can also send their own Said as from their phone, and you approve it on the Online Sign-ups tab.

Before you start

  • A driver on the roster.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Open the driver form

Said as is on both the New Driver and Edit Driver forms.

  2. 2

    Type how it sounds

Use plain spelling with hyphens between syllables. Leave it blank and the announcer reads the name as written.

  3. 3

    Hear it

As written plays the plain spelling so you can compare. In a race plays a short call like a real heat would.

  4. 4

    Save

From now on the announcer, Race Monitor and the TV voice use this pronunciation for this driver.

Tips

  • Spell it the way it sounds, with hyphens between syllables: "Win" for Nguyen, "Shaw-nah" for Siobhan.
  • Press In a race to hear it in a real race call before you save.
  • A driver's own pronunciation request shows on Drivers, Online Sign-ups with a Pronunciation badge.

Troubleshooting

It still says the name wrong.
Try splitting it into more syllables or swapping letters for sounds. Different voices say things a little differently, so test with the voice you race with.
